During the closing days of September, Daniel Lindgren challenged his father, Brokk President Lars Lindgren, to complete the ALS Association’s Ice Bucket Challenge. Lars rose to the challenge the only way a Brokk leader could – with a Brokk 100 and a bucket attachment brimming with ice water.
The challenge involves people filming themselves getting drenched with ice water and nominating others to do the same to help raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The video is posted to social media, and the nominee can accept the challenge, make a donation to the ALS Association, or both.
“My son challenged me to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge,” Lars says in the video. Now, I challenge Peter Bigwood (Brokk vice president of sales and marketing). Here it goes.” With the flip of a switch, the Brokk machine’s arm rose up, and frigid ice water cascaded down from the bucket onto Lindgren. “That was cold!”
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has become an international craze to raise money for the ALS Association to fund ALS cure and treatment research. Since July 29, 2014, people from around the world completed the challenge and donated $115 million.
